How to Overcome Discouragement
© 2022 Dr. Samaria M Colbert If we be honest everyone at some point in our lives will feel discouraged. If you haven’t either you are in denial or you haven’t lived long enough. You as a human being will experience being discouraged. The question I will answer is not if you will get discouraged rather what should you do when you get discouraged. You can make a temporary season permanent if you don’t handle discouragement properly. Why we get discouraged? Proverbs 13:12 New Living Translation 12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. We get discouraged after we have endured a long time. When you start off you start the journey with strength and a vigor for the mission. After a while of fighting the good fight of faith we lose strength. How do we overcome discouragement?
Isaiah 40:31 New King James Version 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. · Determine to trust God despite the circumstance. · Fix your focus. Philippians 4:8 New King James Version 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Wait on the Lord, the strength will come. Remember God will redeem the time, there is no time lost in God. Remember it is only a season. Season’s will change. Understand the purpose in it all. Something beautiful is being birthed out of your season of discouragement. You may not understand it, but it will make sense after a while. Isaiah 43:19 New Living Translation 19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 41:9-13 Living Bible 9 I have called you back from the ends of the earth and said that you must serve but me alone, for I have chosen you and will not throw you away. 10 Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.[a] 11 See, all your angry enemies lie confused and shattered. Anyone opposing you will die. 12 You will look for them in vain—they will all be gone. 13 I am holding you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God—and I say to you, Don’t be afraid; I am here to help you. Remember it’s only a set up. Be encouraged, better days are coming. © 2022 Dr. Samaria M Colbert
