You are not forsaken; you are not forgotten.
© 2021 Dr. Samaria M Colbert This blog is near and dear to my heart because I’ve had times in my life where I felt forsaken and forgotten. I have a quiet personality; I have often been overlooked and forgotten by man. I am writing this blog to encourage someone from a place that I have been. To be forsaken means to feel abandoned or deserted. It means to be given up on or to leave. Remember Hebrews 13:5 God says I will never leave you nor forsake you. Just because you feel forsaken doesn’t mean you are forsaken. To be forgotten means to be treated with inattention or to disregard. It means to be obsolete to cease from doing. To lose remembrance of. To cease to remember or notice. Isaiah 49:14-16 New King James Version 14 But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me.” 15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, [a]And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. There are times in our life when we feel forgotten and forsaken. Before we discuss what to do about it let’s explore why you may have felt this way. You have been forsaken by people you love. Psalm 27:10 New King James Version 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. David said, “when”, it means there are times when we will be forsaken by people who are family. However, remember man’s actions towards you doesn’t dictate God’s. You’ve been hidden by God. God often hides us in plain sight to develop us. Remember Joseph who had a dream. His process into fulfilling that dream included seasons of being hidden. You’ve waited much longer than expected. Habakkuk 2:3 New Living Translation 3 This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. You’ve been rejected by people. Remember rejected by people doesn’t mean rejected by God. You’ve experienced a series of disappointments. Galatians 6:9 King James Version 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. You have a quiet personality. Remember just because you are quiet doesn’t mean you are not a powerhouse. Isaiah 30:15 New King James Version 15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” You’ve been damaged by past experiences and feel as though there is no resolve. You are alone. You are still waiting. Remember you are not abandoned. Feelings don’t dictate fact. Those who are called of God, are often hidden for his specific purpose. Mark 4:22 New King James Version 22 For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. In God’s time He will reveal you.
